The UK is known for its extraordinary cuisine, and the very best of Britain’s restaurants has now been revealed.
The Good Food Guide has listed today its annual 100 Best Local Restaurants across the country and has announced that the very best local restaurant in Britain is Bavette, a lively French bistro in Horsforth, Leeds.
This beautiful restaurant is owned by husbands Sandy Jarvis and Clément Cousin and quickly won the hearts of locals due to warmth, adventurous wine list and the couple’s experience working at top London establishments.
After reflecting on their win, Sandy and Clément said: “We are completely gobsmacked about winning the Best Local Restaurant Award.
“To be included in the top 100 in our first few months would have been a great achievement but to be the overall winners is such a huge honour and testament to all the hard work of the team since day one, so this is for them.”
It turns out the most popular food for British diners is French many of the top 100 local restaurants with French cuisine made it into the nominations, including L’Hexagon in Norwich, Fancett’s Bistro in Cambridge, L’Escargot Bleu in Edinburgh, Pompette in Oxford, Ophelia in Gosforth and Paulette, Josephine and Les 2 Garçons, all in London.
However, fine dining has fallen in popularity as not many were nominated for the Best Local Restaurant awards this year, proving that British diners are looking for relaxed places to eat out where food is simple yet delicious.
