Wine expert says ‘common mistake’ of putting cork back in bottle ruins taste

A wine connoisseur has spilled the beans on a blunder we’re all guilty of when it comes to our beloved vino.

The expert warns against re-corking your bottle, instead offering a clever hack to keep your wine in tip-top condition.

The TikTok creator, who goes by @confidenceuncorked, is on a mission to keep your half-drunk bottles as fresh as possible, pointing out that once you pop the cork, the remaining wine is swimming in oxygen.

She’s amassed a staggering 121,600 followers on the platform and in her latest viral video, she highlighted the importance of a major piece of advice.

The social media user shared: “What you want to do is reduce the amount of oxygen to wine ratio, I recommend a mason jar.

“All you do is take whatever wine you have leftover and pour that into the mason jar or any airtight container.”

Her savvy suggestion has garnered over 205,000 likes and sparked 2,900 comments, with one fan exclaiming: “So smart yet so simple.”

But this isn’t the first time wine lovers have been schooled on wine etiquette.

Heather Muriello, a popular New York-based booze buff, enlightened her 10,000 Instagram disciples with a revolutionary 20/20 rule for wine.

According to the Mirror, she said: “Learn this game-changing 20/20 rule in wine.

“Chill your reds in the fridge 20 minutes before serving to unleash their complex flavours, while letting whites rest out of the fridge for 20 minutes to reveal their full bouquet and bright acidity.”

According to Wine Folly, red and white wines differ not only in colour and grape varieties but also in their entire composition.

This is due to their distinct production processes, with reds fermented with the grape skins and seeds, while whites are typically pressed without these components.
