How to cook roast potatoes fast with chef’s ‘best’ recipe and no oven


Recipes that look the best perfect roast potatoes are something many are on the lookout for, especially since they’re often the showstoppers of a Sunday roast.

To achieve the dream roasties, you’re aiming for that golden crispy exterior and a soft, fluffy interior, bursting with flavour.

But traditionally, in the oven, they can be quite the time consumer to cook, usually taking around an hour to reach perfection.

However, the kitchen game-changer might just be your air fryer, which can whip up roast potatoes in a mere 15 minutes.

It turns out air fryers aren’t just great for frying eggs or whipping up a quick curry – they can also produce scrumptious roast spuds.

TikTok sensation @demthepesc, aka chef Demi Singh, has taken to her account to reveal what she claims is the “best” air fryer roast potato recipe.

In her video, Demi kicks things off with a bold claim: “Not to alarm you but these are the best air fryer potatoes you’ll ever make.”

The process begins with chopping the potatoes to your preferred size and parboiling them until they’re “tender”.

Demi then advises tossing them with your favourite seasonings she goes for onion powder, oregano, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.

Next, drizzle some oil over the seasoned potatoes to help the spices adhere. While Demi opts for rapeseed oil, olive oil is a fine substitute.

Pop them into the air fryer at 205 degrees and cook until they’re “lovely and crispy”, which should take about 15 minutes.

Demi swears by the results, insisting the potatoes turn out “so crispy and so fluffy”. She confessed to being “addicted” to this method.

Responding in the comments section, one user questioned if she could just air fry the potatoes straight away without parboiling, to which Demi replied that it’s necessary to make them “so fluffy”.
