Aldi prepares to open four new supermarkets – are there any opening near you?

In a bid to help bring lower food prices to even more Londoners, budget chain Aldi is opening new stores.

These supermarkets will be located in Leytonstone and Beckton, and are set to open in the next couple of months.

Holloway Road and Muswell Hill are also gearing up to welcome new Aldi stores.

The openings will see the UK’s fourth-largest supermarket create more than 150 new jobs in the capital before the end of the year.

The company has also said it will open even more stores in 2025 to help bring lower food prices to the capital.

Aldi has been confirmed by Which? as the UK’s cheapest supermarket every single month this year, proving it to be affordable for all.

The supermarket wishes to open another 100 stores in London, creating around 3,500 new jobs.

Jonathan Neale, managing director of National Real Estate at Aldi UK, said: “There are still thousands of shoppers in the capital that don’t yet have access to an Aldi nearby and, as a result, too many people have to make do with big prices at the big supermarkets.

“That’s why, while we’re looking to open new stores across the country, London will be a particular focus for us over the coming years.”

The openings form part of Aldi’s long-term target of 1,500 stores in the UK, with the supermarket set to invest £550million in expanding its UK footprint this year alone.

Other new store openings in the UK include Waltham Cross in Hertfordshire and Olney Park in Milton Keynes.

Towns such as Aberdare in Wales and Broughty Ferry in Dundee are also gearing up to welcome new stores in the near future.

Store assistants at Aldi will receive a starting pay of £12.40 per hour and those based in London will get a minimum of £13.65 per hour.

Aldi also remains the only supermarket to offer paid breaks, which for the average store colleague is worth around £900 a year.
