Anne posted on the site in 2021: “Been to Saltcoats many times to look at the fascinating geology in the rocks around the harbour which are easily accessible.

“The views out to sea are spectacular with not only Arran clearly visible but the Paps of Jura just north of the island when conditions are just right.

“There is free parking by the promenade and very important for me freely accessible public toilets.

“There is a fine walk from one end of the promenade to the other and also a very pleasant Main Street in the town.”

Other people said the beach had “beautiful sunsets” and is the perfect spot for dogs to run around.

However, one recent review claimed the beach was “scruffy” in parts but that the views of the Isle of Arran were a “plus point”.
