Sunderland riots: Horrifying moment thugs pose in front of burning car | UK | News

Thugs have been pictured posing in front of a burning car after a violent mob terroised Sunderland’s streets on Friday night.

Horrifying footage shows a burning car with one man standing on the bonnet while the two other men clench their arms in the air, after far-Right rioters are believed to have set the car on fire, fire bombed a police station and also set a police car alight.

Debris could be seen scattered around the city centre after the windows of at least one building, a gym, had been smashed as hundreds of people gathered in Keel Square, many of them draped in England flags, on Friday evening.

Members of the crowd chanted in support of Tommy Robinson, while others shouted insults about Islam.

Mounted police followed the march, along with officers in vans who battled their way through traffic to keep up, three police officers have been taken to hospital following the riots.

Astonishing pictures shared on social media shows a huge blaze erupting from the Sunderland Central Police Station, while bystanders looked on or filmed the incredible scenes.

The incident was confirmed at the time by Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service, as the force said: “We are attending an incident there at the moment”.

The blaze was eventually put out by firefighters.
