Police officer rushed to hospital after being run over | UK | News


A manhunt has been launched after a police officer was hospitalised when he was run over by a car in east London.

The incident occurred yesterday at 4.45pm, when police tried to stop a vehicle on the A12 at the junction with Barley Lane in Redbridge.

The vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit was authorised.

Shortly afterwards, the suspect vehicle collided with an officer.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “The officer was taken to hospital for treatment where their injuries were assessed as not life threatening or life changing.

“He is being supported by colleagues.

“No other injuries have been reported.”

The suspect vehicle was later found abandoned and enquiries remain are ongoing to trace the driver.

Road closures have now been lifted.
