For those who serve up enough pasta to feed the entire street when making a meal for one, a cooking guru shared a simple technique to nail down the perfect single portion of spaghetti every time.
On GoodtoKnow’s TikTok channel, a woman demonstrates measuring out a portion using a pasta ladle.
She threads spaghetti strands through the hole normally used to drain the pasta, stating this measures the ideal quantity for one.
A caption on the video said: “Thought this hole was just for draining? It can also be used to measure one serving of spaghetti!”
In response, one user expressed: “Mind. Blown.” Other comments include expressions of surprise such as “Wow” and “Never knew that.”
Yet some pasta lovers confessed they would still go overboard on their portions despite the advice, saying: “Then I need three of that.”
Additional remarks came thick and fast with one individual asserting: “I used half a packet as a serving.”
Others questioned portion guidelines found on the packaging, with one person claiming: “The serving sizes that are on the packaging are just dumb. I couldn’t feed a baby with that size.”
And a resolute voice chimed in: “Nope. I’ll still eat more than I should.”
However, it doesn’t stop there. GoodToKnow has more than one trick up its sleeve; another video showcases how to tackle tight-sealed pasta sauce jars effortlessly.
Sidestepping the classic tea towel grip, they reveal: “Struggling to open a jar? Run the lid under hot water. Ta-dah!” Following which, opening a tough jar of pesto became seemingly effortless.
In a lively exchange of tips, one user advised: “Tap it on the corner of the cupboard or use a knife – but only use these methods if you have a functioning brain!”
Meanwhile, another chimed in with their preferred technique: “Place a spoon up along the groove of the lid and it pops and releases the seal. The easiest and most satisfying method that works for most style lids.”
