Greek firefighters continued to battle a wildfire that spread to the north of Athens for a third day on Tuesday. The blaze, described as as ‘extremely dangerous’ by a government minister, destroyed homes and businesses in the capital’s suburbs and forced the evacuation of thousands of people including from three hospitals and a children’s home.
