Save your fingers from the peril of sharp blender blades with this simple trick.
Blenders are versatile kitchen tools, perfect for creating healthy smoothies, blending soup and sauce bases, or even finely chopping ingredients using the “pulse” setting. However, each use is followed by the daunting task of cleaning it, which can be particularly challenging.
For those without a dishwasher who must resort to hand washing, the sharp blades pose a significant risk. With wet hands from washing other dishes, you’re left to cautiously hold the top of the spinning blade pole and meticulously clean each blade without slipping.
But fear not if the thought of cleaning your blender fills you with dread. A cleaning enthusiast has revealed an effortless method to restore your blender to its original shine, without ever having to approach the hazardous blades.
A TikTok user known as The Amateur Cleaner shared a brief video where she suggested that you can actually “let the blender clean itself” by simply adding washing up liquid and water to the appliance.
The woman showcased her cleaning method by initially rinsing her blender to remove leftover smoothie residue, then adding washing-up liquid and hot water into the jug before reattaching it to the base.
She activated the blender on a “low” setting, and after a brief cycle, she rinsed the jug once more, leaving it sparkling clean.
This straightforward tip might seem self-evident, yet it’s a revelation for many who hadn’t considered such an approach.
Numerous commenters expressed gratitude for the “genius” trick, recounting their own close calls with the sharp blades of blenders.
One individual commented: “Girl I’m going to start doing this! Washing the blades by hand gives me so much anxiety.”
Another chimed in: “I hate washing the blender, I’m going to start doing this now.”
Some users highlighted that certain blenders come equipped with a special cleaning mode designed for this very purpose, while others shared that a similar technique can be applied to other tricky-to-clean items like protein shake bottles.
“Same thing with shaker bottles that you put protein shake or things similar put a drop of soap and fill with hot water and just shake it then clean the lid,” remarked one user.
Another mentioned: “My blender has a setting for this.”
