In what could have been an amorous disaster, a pair said to be “getting busy” in the backseat of a car were thrust into danger as their vehicle started rolling towards a deep-flowing river on Wednesday.
Police reports detail that the duo’s passionate encounter swiftly became alarming when they realised their 2020 Range Rover was on the move while they were compromised in the rear of the car.
Neither individual has been identified, yet authorities described how they arrived at Philadelphia’s Schuylkill River in the early hours of Wednesday after the luxury white SUV began to drift and ended submerged at the bottom.
Dive teams began searching the river’s murky depths at 4:30 am and eventually spotted the white form of the SUV lurking in the river’s gloom. Miraculously, the randy couple escaped the Range Rover unscathed just in time to evade serious injuries.
Come 9 am, specialists had fished out the vehicle from its watery grave. Astonishing visuals, taken near the Strawberry Mansion Bridge over the Schuylkill, showed the car lying completely submerged.
A local officer revealed to NBC10 that they believed the pair were mid-tryst when the car unexpectedly plunged into the river.
In a bizarre twist, officials have decided not to press charges against the pair involved in the dramatic incident. This peculiar episode follows closely on the discovery of an abandoned vehicle in the same river, found locked on all four doors as per diver reports.
An eyewitness present during the chilling occurrence on August 16, who was fishing along Kelly Drive at the time, shared his experience with the Mirror.
The witness, identified as Antony, stated: “I was just down here fishing…and I saw a car at high speed slam on its brakes and throw it in reverse.”
Prior to the police’s arrival, it was noted that one window of the submerged vehicle was left open and the rear windshield had been shattered.
