Man Utd news: Antony makes decision on Turkey transfer after INEOS ‘lifeline’ | Football | Sport

Manchester United winger Antony has shut down speculation linking him with a reported late loan switch to Turkish outfit Fenerbahce, according to reports.

The 24-year-old has struggled to find his feet since his £85million switch from Ajax after deciding to follow his boss Erik ten Hag to Manchester in 2022.

He has returned just five Premier League goals in 55 appearances and the Brazil international was an unused substitute in the 3-0 defeat against Liverpool on Sunday.

Reports suggested Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce had made a late move to sign Antony before their transfer window shuts on September 13, with a route to Istanbul offering a potential exit out of Manchester for the out-of-favour attacker.

But, according to Fabrizio Romano, there is ‘no truth’ in speculation linking Antony with a move to Turkey as he has ‘no intention’ on leaving the club this summer.

The winger, who has three years left on his contract, is ‘fully committed’ to the project at Old Trafford, which has been the consistent position of his representatives.

Alejandro Garnacho was picked from the start and Amad Diallo was brought on ahead of the Brazilian, a clear indication of where Ten Hag sees him in the pecking order.

But it appears Antony is not willing to give up on his dream of playing in the Premier League just yet and, unless there is a significant change in his position, he will fight for his place in Ten Hag’s squad.

Antony found the back of the net against Arsenal, Manchester City and Everton in his first three Premier League appearances but then went on a barren spell in front of goal as he registered just one more top-flight goal during his maiden campaign in England.

His second season was even tougher as he contributed just three goals and two assists in all competitions throughout the entire campaign.

Despite not selecting him recently, the 54-year-old boss has given his backing to Antony to rediscover his form for the Red Devils.

“Especially in the first month, he certainly showed that potential,” Ten Hag said in July. “He scored three times in his first three games.

“After that it got harder – last season wasn’t good. But I am still convinced that he has the potential to play at this club.”
