McDonald’s fans are in for a treat, as a foodie has shared a recipe for its iconic Big Mac sauce after he claimed it was “leaked” online.
The fast food chain is known for its delicious menu, but if you can’t resist that special Big Mac sauce, you can now whip up your own version. A TikTok sensation claims to have worked out how to make it, sharing what he insists is the secret recipe and claiming it tastes “exactly” like the real thing.
Budding chefs and McDonald’s enthusiasts can now create their very own “fakeaways” from the comfort of their kitchens, drizzling everything with the legendary sauce.
TikTok user @recipes broadcasted: “Apparently the Big Mac sauce recipe was leaked online this week so I gotta check it out.”
This culinary creator, renowned for posting dishes on the platform, revealed the supposed ingredients list for the iconic condiment.
You will need:
- 1/2 cup of mayo
- 3 teaspoons of yellow mustard
- 2 tablespoons of pickle relish
- 1 teaspoon of paprika
- 2 teaspoons of onion powder
- 2 teaspoons of garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons of grated onion.
The creator branded grated onion a “secret ingredient” that many might not consider adding to their condiments.
After mixing the ingredients together, the TikToker gave it the ultimate taste test by dipping French fries into it, before adding: “This tastes exactly like it.”
While some skeptics in the comments argued that Big Mac sauce is the same as Thousand Island dressing, others said the two condiments are “nothing alike”.
According to Wikipedia, Thousand Island sauce is a mix of “mayonnaise and usually ketchup or tomato puree and chopped pickles; it can also include lemon juice, orange juice, paprika, black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, vinegar, cream, chilli sauce, olive oil, and hot sauce”.
Meanwhile others weren’t sold on the “secret ingredient.” One former McDonald’s employee said: “It’s not grated onions IN the sauce. It’s added on top. I’ve worked there.”
Meanwhile others claimed McDonald’s had revealed the recipe themselves “years ago” on YouTube.
But there are fans of the homemade version, with one enthusiast commending: “I’ve been making it like this for a while now, it DOES taste like the real deal”.
