Two popular supermarkets have issued recalls on products that could cause health issues for some people who eat them due to undisclosed allergens in the products.
Lidl Northern Ireland has issued a recall on its Deluxe Chicken and Vegetable soup as it may contain gluten and wheat products which can be dangerous to people with coeliac disease or wheat allergies.
A statement from the Food Standards Agency (FDA) reads: “Due to a packaging error, the soup has been packaged into the incorrect Sweet Potato & Chicken Soup tub with the correct Chicken & Vegetable Soup lid.
“This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with coeliac disease, and/or an allergy or intolerance to barley, wheat or gluten.”
If you have purchased this item, you can return it to the store from which you bought it.
A second item has also been recalled from Iceland supermarkets, as it may contain milk which has not been disclosed on the label.
The Iceland 2 Vegetable Balti Bakes may have milk in them which could be an issue for people with allergies to dairy.
“If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, do not eat it. Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.”
The FSA regularly issues alerts when there is an issue with a food product, necessitating its withdrawal from shelves or recall, where customers are asked to return it.
