Prince Harry has insisted he will “always love” Britain despite his popularity in the country taking a huge downturn.
The Duke of Sussex, who quit life as a working member of the Royal Family in 2020, has developed a negative reputation in his home country.
According to a poll commissioned by The Times, 62 per cent of UK survey participants have a negative opinion on Prince Harry, with only 26 per cent viewing him positively.
The British public who took part in the poll also have a negative opinion of his wife Meghan Markle, with 65 per cent of participants thinking negatively of her and only 22 per cent thinking of her in a positive light.
Despite this and his fractured relationship with his family, the prince has insisted that he will always love Britain.
In his memoir Spare, which was published just months after the death of his grandmother Queen Elizabeth, Harry wrote: “I love my Mother Country, and I love my family, and I always will.
“I just wish, at the second-darkest moment of my life, they’d both been there for me. And I believe they’ll look back one day and wish they had too.”
This comes after Harry previously wrote about his relationship with the UK press.
The Duke wrote: “My problem has never been with the monarchy, nor the concept of monarchy.
“It’s been with the press and the sick relationship that’s evolved between it and the Palace.”
