New D-Day movie casts Band of Brothers star as World War II Field Marshal Monty | Films | Entertainment

Announced earlier this summer, Pressure is a new movie about the 72 hour build-up to D-Day, based on the West End play of the same name.

In the upcoming World War II epic,Oscar-winner Brendan Fraser stars as Supreme Allied Commander and future US President Dwight D Eisenhower.

Joining him in the cast are Andrew Scott as Britain’s chief meteorological officer James Stagg and Kerry Condon as Eisesnhower’s trusted aide Captain Kay Summersby.

Now as shooting begins (check out the first set photo below), Deadline has announced two other stars.

Chris Messina will play US Meteorologist Irving P Krick and Band of Brothers star Damian Lewis portrays Field Marshall Bernard Montgomery aka Monty.

The film’s official synopsis reads: “In the seventy two hours leading up to D-Day, all the pieces are in place except for one key element – the British weather. Britain’s chief meteorological officer James Stagg (Andrew Scott) is called upon to deliver the most consequential forecast in history, locking him into a tense standoff with the entire Allied leadership. The wrong conditions could devastate the largest ever seaborne invasion, while any delay risks German intelligence catching on.

“With only his trusted aide Captain Kay Summersby (Kerry Condon) to confide in, and haunted by a catastrophic D-Day rehearsal, the final decision rests with Supreme Allied Commander Dwight D. Eisenhower (Brendan Fraser). With only hours to go, the fate of the war and the lives of millions hang in the balance.”

Pressure’s release date is TBC, but presumably late 2025 to be in consideration for Awards season.
