Banish nasty odours with natural ingredients that smell ‘amazing’

There are several simple methods that can banish foul odours from your home using natural items that you likely already have in the house.

Cleaning pro Chantel Mila Ibbotson, who posts on Instagram as @mama_mila_au, has shared a number of tips that will leave your home smelling amazing – all while using natural ingredients.

Chantel’s first tip is to place baking soda anywhere that needs odours removed ASAP, including from your fridge, bin and dishwasher.

This budget-friendly option will stop the need to purchase various sprays and other options, with many already stocking baking soda in their home – and if you don’t it can cost as little as 50p.

Another way you can use baking soda is to place it on a lemon and use it to clean and deodorise anything stainless steal, including your sink.

Sharing a third strategy for making your home smell nice, Chantel suggests just simply boiling one sliced lemon, two sprigs rosemary, one tsp clove and vanilla on your stovetop.

This is perfect for deodorising and getting your home smelling amazing ahead of receiving visitors, and would likely be cheating that buy a candle for the same purpose.

Once this mixture has cooled down you can bottle and use as a room spray, or add white vinegar and make your own surface spray.

Her final tip for banishing bad smells from the home is to make sure you are using a laundry hamper and not leaving unclean clothes lying on the floor.

Chantel’s followers were quick to comment on her home advice, with some writing that they were going to try all these tips “right now.” While others thanked Chantel for the top tips.

One asked about the room spray, commenting: “How long does the lemon, rosemary, etc work in spray bottle before goes bad?” To which Chantel replied: “Around a month I’ve found.”
