Are you keen to boost your bank balance with some extra money?

You might be surprised to learn certain rare coins and notes could fetch a pretty penny. It’s been recently disclosed a 2p coin with a mistake is worth £1,000 if you find it.

But don’t stop there it’s time to check your banknotes too. Notes bearing the image of King Charles III are gradually making their way into circulation, although they remain a rare sight alongside those of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Since June, the Bank of England has been distributing notes featuring the new monarch. Now a TikTok sensation, @CoinCollectingWizard, has taken online to enlighten his 200,000 fans about which notes could make them a small fortune.

In a viral clip, he urged: “Stop what you are doing and check your King Charles bank notes today.”

He elaborated: “New banknotes featuring King Charles III have entered circulation but it may be some time before they’re commonly seen in wallets and purses.

“The King was presented with a full set of the lowest serial numbers following the tradition of the monarch receiving the first issues of banknotes. And collectors will be seeking banknotes close to the 000001 serial number as possible.”

Wrapping up his advice, he said: “So what you need to look for is CA01 0000003, this has an estimate of £4,000. The King Charles banknotes are now in UK circulation and are being found daily, so remember you are looking for low serial numbers as the first set is out somewhere.”

The user claims certain banknotes with low serial numbers could fetch around £20,000 on eBay. Since posted, the video scooped hundreds of likes and sparked diverse reactions in the comment section.

One viewer commented: “Excellent,” another resolved to “Will check.”

A third voiced their disapproval with the terse remark: “Criminal.”
