Meghan Markle and Harry could live in Althorp on return to UK | Royal | News

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could move into a home worth £992k if they returned to the UK, a royal expert has said.

The couple, who have been living in California since 2020, are reportedly happy and settled over the pond in their Montecito mansion, however, this does not mean a return to Harry’s home country is completely off the cards.

Over recent months and in the weeks since Harry’s 40th birthday earlier this month, a number of royal sources have claimed that the Duke of Sussex is likely to want to find a new meaning in life and spend more time in his home country, even if this means flying solo without his wife Meghan, 43.

One royal expert has now told Fox News Digital that if Harry and his family do ever want to return to the UK, they are likely to move into Althorp House, the childhood home of Princess Diana, before setting up a permanent base with their two children Archie, five, and Lilibet, three.

The home, which is lived in by Harry’s uncle Charles Earl Spencer, has been a recent comfort for Harry on visits to the UK, including his latest trip in August to attend a Spencer family funeral.

The property was also the childhood home of his mother Princess Diana, and is the place where she is buried.

Expert Ian Pelham Turner told Fox News Digital: “Earl Spencer promised at the funeral of his sister Diana… to constantly look after his nephews William and Harry.

“It is no surprise to me that Harry stayed at Althorp recently because they have been very close since that time.

“Harry can rely upon Earl Spencer. And no doubt, behind the scenes, [the earl] has been trying to build bridges with the brothers.”
