National Highways has advised road users to follow the solid triangle diversion symbol on road signs.
On its website, the government-owned firm advised road users to:
Exit the A1(M) southbound at J60 and take the third exit at the roundabout onto the A689Continue for approximately 1.8 milesTurn left at The Eden Arms Hotel, Rushyford onto the A167Continue southbound on the A167At the roundabout with the Hill House Farm, continue straight ahead towards the A1(M) J59Re-join the A1(M) southbound using the entry slip road
Commuters whose planned routes are impacted are advised to allow extra time, to reroute or even consider delaying their journeys.
