Only a few weeks remain until families all around the world will be deciding where to spend the festive season, including Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
However, Express.co.uk readers have overwhelmingly voted in a recent poll against the Duke and Duchess of Sussex joining the Spencer family in the UK for Christmas 2024 – should that be their plans.
The poll posed the question ‘Should Prince Harry and Meghan Markle join the Spencer family for Christmas?’ and ran from 3pm on October 8 to 9am on October 9.
A total of 3009 readers voted, with 17.7 percent (534) voting ‘yes’ to support Harry and Meghan spending Christmas with Harry’s relatives. However, 74.9 percent (2254) voted ‘no’ and believed the royal duo should not celebrate with the Spencer family, whereas 7.5 percent (221) were unsure, and replied ‘don’t know’.
According to a well-placed source, Express.co.uk revealed this year Prince Harry is keen to spend the holidays in the United Kingdom with his wife, Meghan , and their two children, Prince Archie, five and Princess Lilibet, three.
However, Harry has previously expressed “genuine concerns” about Meghan returning to the UK. He told ITV’s ‘Tabloids on Trial’ about his worries: “And whether it’s a knife or acid, these are things that are genuine concerns for me. It’s one of the reasons why I won’t bring my wife back to this country.”
Prince Harry was last at Althorp House, the final resting place of his late mother, in August, after going to the memorial service for Princess Diana’s brother-in-law, Lord Robert Fellowes.
Following Harry’s departure from the UK in 2020, Charles, the ninth Earl Spencer, has maintained a close relationship with the Duke of Sussex.
Charles Spencer was also one of the only family members to support Harry at a special service marking the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games back in May.
Charles was joined at St Paul’s Cathedral by his sister, Harry’s aunt, Lady Jane Fellowes, as well as Harry’s cousins George McCorquodale, Ned Spencer, and Louis Spencer, Viscount Althorp.
