‘Amazing’ cleaning hack where man turns dirty rug into new carpet

Nowadays the internet is perfect for cleaning hacks.

In the past, we’ve seen a savvy cleaning hack polish metal furniture and a simple trick to effortlessly remove greasy stains from food containers.

But what we haven’t seen is one man devote his time to turning a muddy carpet into a brand new rug.

Over on Instagram, user @mountainrugcleaning shared a mind-blowing transformation of a rug which went from “disaster to delight” in seconds.

The cleaner, who boasts 1.7million followers, shared a timelapse of the discarded rug being cleaned and it’s the most satisfying thing you’ll see.

In the video, it starts by showing a proper grubby carpet which is covered in brown dirt and mug. He starts off by using a jet wash to rinse off the dirt.

Next he scraps off the excess water, where part of the rug’s original colour is starting to show.

Then comes the soap and cleaning products, as well as a polish tool which is really getting the liquid into the dirty carpet.

Once he’s done that, he’s able to scrap off the soap and water where a lot of brown water is still coming out of it.

He gives it another rinse with the jet wash before repeating the same process again with the soap and scraper.

Moments later, you can start to see the rug’s original white colour. But before all that, there’s still some more jet washing and soap used.

The cleaner also used a blue scrub and baking soda to finish off the process – and get it super fresh.

Now approaching the end of the timelapse, you can see just how clean and totally transformed the rug is.

His caption read: “Disaster to delight. Amazing timelapse of this discarded rug being cleaned!”

Since it was shared, it garnered a lot of likes and comments. One wrote: “The part with the blue cleaning products was amazing.”

Another added: “It’s amazing how much dirt can get into the rug.” Then a third chimed in: “You had to put it work on that one! Sheesh!”

Others thought the whole process was completely pointless and claimed he was better off “throwing away the rug”.
