Jane McDonald shares healthy snack that helped her lose 4 stone and beat cravings

Jane McDonald has dazzled her audience with an impressive four-stone weight loss, maintaining her newfound healthy lifestyle diligently.

The Loose Women veteran spoke candidly about her previous struggles with weight due to her demanding career, which often resulted in unhealthy eating habits.

Formerly a size 12-14, she has successfully slimmed down to a svelte size eight.

The charismatic 59 year old songstress credits cutting out munching on crisps and reducing “white carbs” such as white bread, flour, and pasta for her transformation.

She revealed her fondness for beginning alternate days with a home-made green smoothie, sharing her recipe: “I blend up a mixture of raw greens, flax seeds, chia seeds, spinach, kale, mint and a banana. It really is lovely.”

Since hosting ‘Cruising with Jane McDonald’ on Channel 5 starting in 2017, Jane confessed that the temptations on cruises made her susceptible to weight gain.

Recalling a 2019 voyage, she mentioned: “That is the first cruise I’ve put about eight pounds on. I ate my own body weight on that cruise. If I have a breakfast, I don’t have a lunch. If I have a lunch, I don’t eat breakfast.

“I don’t eat everything that I could eat on a cruise. I eat a lot of salads when I’m at home. But when I’m away, I’m away,” reports SurreyLive.

“I don’t want to be on a diet on a cruise because I want people to see what they can have.”

Her breakthrough moment came after joining ITV’s Sugar Free Farm in 2016, where she embarked on the journey to shedding weight and has since adhered to methods that allow her to keep off the extra pounds. Contestants were handed a sugar-free regime to turbocharge their health.

Axing the sweet yet calorie-laden substance from her menu, Jane shed an eye-opening stone in just two weeks. Speaking to Express.co.uk, Jane shared her revelation: “I lost a stone and a half from taking part in the TV show Sugar Free Farm.”

She admitted to prior bad habits: “I used to eat so much rubbish. I didn’t realise how much rubbish I used to eat. I’ve always loved a pie and I was very carbohydrate-led as I was always hungry.”

Further revealing her dietary mistakes, she stated: “I ate far too much and all the wrong things. I didn’t realise that if you eat the wrong things, it doesn’t feed your body so you will want more.”

Addressing the energising impact of her diet changes, Jane remarked: “I like my life, and my schedule takes a lot of energy, but I was beginning to get quite tired and I was blaming it on age.”

Post-programme, Jane now eschews yeast-filled bread. She elaborated: “The only bread I eat is one that I’ve got a recipe for from Angelique Panagos [the ITV show nutritionist].”

She described this special loaf as: “It’s got no yeast in it, and it’s made with lots of pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, wholemeal flour, oats, and yoghurt, of all things.”

Sharing the convenience factor, she added: “It’s literally 20 minutes and it’s made – ready to put in the oven,” during a chat with the Daily Star.

To cope with starchy cravings, Jane unveiled her go-to fix: “I don’t eat a lot of it but when I’m really craving a bit of starch I just get some out of the freezer and stick it in the toaster and it’s done.

She made remarkable progress, losing one and a half stone by the end of her programme and continued her journey until she shed four stone by 2016, adhering strictly to some of the show’s dietary rules.

In 2015, Jane revealed the extent of her diet changes, which included eliminating alcohol, cakes, biscuits, and fast food. Giving up red wine proved tough, yet she managed to limit herself to just one glass weekly.

Her fridge now mirrors her dedication to health: “It’s stuffed from top to bottom with lean meat and chopped veg in boxes of Tupperware – peppers, spinach, things like that,” Jane shared.

This life-changing experience has invigorated her: “I’ve got a new lease of life – appearing on this programme is the best thing I’ve ever done.” Jane is currently touring the UK with her show, With All My Love.
