If your BT bill is making you wince, Vodafone reckons it has the answer. The UK mobile network has just announced a broadband deal that not only offers a decent saving but also pays for you to get out of your current BT contract. For those unaware, most providers charge a fee if you want to exit your current deal early. For example, BT’s early termination fee is based on the number of months remaining on your contract at the time of cancellation.
This can be a pretty big sticking point for leaving as most people don’t want to stump up extra cash just so they can move providers. That’s where Vodafone reckons it has you covered with the firm giving £100 towards any fees when you make the jump.
Not only that, Vodafone also reckons users can save over £200 on their bills by switching.
Here’s how BT and Vodafone compare for a basic 72Mbps speed package.
BT 72Mbps plan
PRICE: £31.99 per month
UPFRONT FREE: £31.99
CONTRACT: 24 months
TOTAL PRICE (excluding yearly hikes): £799.75
VODAFONE 72Mbps plan
PRICE: £24 per month
UPFRONT FREE: £0
CONTRACT: 24 months
TOTAL PRICE (excluding yearly hikes): £576
Along with offering £100 towards exit fees and cutting the price, Vodafone has also confirmed that it has joined the One Touch Switch service. This does exactly what it says on the tin with customers simply making one call and Vodafone doing the rest. That includes telling the current provider you are leaving and sorting all the paperwork. Not only does this cut out all the hassle but should also mean a seamless switchover so you won’t be without broadband access.
Sky also recently confirmed that it had launched its One Touch Switch service.
One Touch Switch is part of a new programme from Ofcom that aims to help make moving suppliers much more easy.
“With a range of competing fibre-optic networks being built, Ofcom wants to make it easier and quicker for people to move between them and take advantage of unprecedented levels of choice,” Ofcom explained.
“Under the new One Touch Switch process, landline and broadband customers only need to contact their new provider to make the change.”
Rob Winterschladen, Consumer Director, Vodafone UK, said: “Thanks to the launch of One Touch Switch, switching to Vodafone’s Full Fibre Broadband for less really is easy. All people need to do is give us a call or go online, and we’ll manage the whole switching process for them.”
