Oven cleaning often falls to the bottom of the to-do list, with the task of removing burnt-on food and grease from the kitchen appliance seemingly arduous.
While scrubbing an oven door can eat up your time, Katie Wells, a cleaning guru at Wellness Mama, revealed a natural solution that cuts through grease without the need to scrub.
Katie shared: “Though it seems like a simple fix, a quick baking soda paste applied to oven grime is really effective and makes the daunting task of oven cleaning a little easier.”
Baking soda, which you can get at a local supermarket such as Asda or Waitrose, can break down grease and food, ensuring a sparkling clean oven.
Not only does baking soda excel at banishing burnt food marks, but it also acts as a natural deodoriser, eradicating any lingering greasy or charred odours in your oven.
Making a baking soda paste offers a safe and economical alternative to commercial cleaners, which typically contain harsh chemicals and can be relatively costly.
How to make a baking soda paste
Start by spraying the entire oven door with water, ensuring it’s fully damp before sprinkling on the baking soda.
Spread the baking soda to ensure it combines with the water, creating a paste that will tackle those tough stains.
The clever hack requires the paste to sit on the oven door for a few hours, preferably leaving it to work its magic overnight.
When the time’s up, take a cloth and wipe the grime away – you will be surprised at how easily the grime comes off.
A final wipe with a damp and clean cloth will help to remove any remaining baking soda paste, leaving your oven glass gleaming.
Katie advised: “For really baked-on grime, this may take a couple of applications, but it always works and it is 100 percent natural.”
By keeping on top of cleaning the oven, the next time it needs a wipe down, the cleaning session will be even easier and quicker.
