I transformed my mouldy sealant in 15 mins using 1 supermarket product

Mould can appear in several areas of the bathroom – on tile grout, silicone sealant, walls and around windows.

When I discovered I had a build-up of mould growth on the exterior of my shower tray, I was shocked.

The black mould had developed on the silicone sealant and had clearly penetrated deeply into the material.

I knew it was unlikely I would be able to completely remove the mould without permanently damaging the sealant so I didn’t want to use neat bleach.

Doing some research online, I came across Astonish Mould Blast Stain Remover which claims to “banish tough stains and help keep surfaces looking like new”.

The product can be picked up for £2 from Tesco, £2.50 from Dunelm and £2.49 from The Range and Wilko.

On the Dunelm website, the item has received a five-star rating with one review claiming the item is “brilliant at cleaning mould and mildew”.

Another review raved about how well the spray had cleaned some blinds, saying, “this product bought them up sparkling with no marks left”.

Spurred on by the reviews and desperate to remove the unsightly stains, I bought the spray.

Many cleaning enthusiasts online recommend using cotton pads with mould remover sprays to banish mould stains.

I made sure I had enough cotton pads to cover the mouldy areas and sprayed the mould with the spray before placing the pads on top. I then gave the pads a final spray before allowing them to sit for 15 minutes.

I then wiped the area with a cloth and gave it a rinse to remove any leftover spray.

I was pleasantly surprised by the results considering I only had the pads on top of the mould for 15 minutes.

There are still some stains on the sealant which is where the mould has penetrated the silicone but the final result is a huge improvement.
