Millions of Grand Theft Auto fans breathe sigh of relief after latest GTA 6 update | Gaming | Entertainment

A massive step up from the Xbox One but without the huge price tag of the Xbox Series X, Microsoft’s Xbox Series S console has racked up millions in sales since launching back in 2020.

Unfortunately, however, the cheaper price tag does come with one or two drawbacks, particularly when it comes to hardware capabilities.

The Xbox Series S isn’t as powerful as the Series X or PS5, which means some of the more demanding games may struggle to run on the system.

Grand Theft Auto fans have been particularly concerned about the console’s ability to run GTA 6, something which Rockstar Games parent company Take-Two is keen to nip in the bud ahead of next year’s launch.

Speaking to investors, Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick said he isn’t worried about GTA 6 not running on the hardware, and that Rockstar finds a way to support different levels of tech.

“Look, we support the platforms where the consumers are for as long as they’re there, and we find a way to support platforms despite different levels of tech,” Zelnick explains.

“Our labels are really good at that. I’m not really worried. I’ve never worried about where hardware was going.

“And I’ve said this many times over the years because, first of all, I don’t worry about things over which I have zero control. Secondly, I believe in the audience.

“The audience is going to show up if you have great properties, and so we just have to make sure to be on an array of platforms.”

Needless to say, millions of Xbox Series S owners can now breathe a sigh of relief, as it sounds like GTA 6 will perform just as well on the console as anywhere else.

In more good news for GTA 6 fans, Zelnick also said that the game is still on course for an autumn 2025 release date.

With autumn running from September until the end of November, this means we’re a maximum of 12 months away from playing the new Grand Theft Auto.

Now all we need is another trailer to give us a closer look at the gameplay and new locations.

There was speculation that the second trailer would debut in October, but nothing materialised.

What we do know for sure is that Grand Theft Auto 6 takes place in the state of Leonida, which is based on Florida.

Rockstar explains: “Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet.”

The previously released trailer gives fans a look some of the map locations as seen from the skies above. This includes locations based on the Florida Keys, as well as the beach and more.

The trailer also hints at a potential game-changing new feature for Grand Theft Auto 6, which will up the scale to never-before-seen levels.
