Huge Freeview boost as ‘exciting’ free content upgrade comes to your TV soon

Homes with Freeview are in for a treat next year with some bonus sporting action arriving without needing to pay hefty subscription fees. It’s just been confirmed that TNT Sports will remain the home of MotoGP and although you’ll have to pay around £30 per month for full access to this motorcycle racing series some action will be made available for free.

TNT – which is now part of Warner Bros. Discovery Network – has confirmed that its sister channel, Quest, will get a number of races including the popular British GP from the iconic Silverstone track. The free-to-air channel will also show live coverage of the Tissot Sprint from every Grand Prix.

According to TNT, this huge change is being implemented in a bid to “broaden’ MotoGP’s appeal and grow its “fanbase”.

Speaking about the news Trojan Paillot, SVP Sports Rights Acquisitions and Syndications at Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Europe, said: “MotoGP™ is, without a doubt, one of the most exciting sporting properties across the globe and we are incredibly proud to continue our partnership with MotoGP™. The championship goes from strength to strength, engaging sports fans up and down the country as some of the finest superstars of motorsports go wheel-to-wheel at circuits all over the world.

“To be able to take MotoGP™ to our free-to-air channel Quest will complement our live coverage on TNT Sports, helping to broaden its popularity beyond its traditional motorsports fanbase.”

After testing and the 2025 season launch event in Bangkok on February 9th, the 2025 MotoGP season will officially get underway with the ThaiGP on February 28.

This will be the first time the season has opened in South-East Asia for a quarter of a century and the first time ever in Thailand. In total, there will be 22 Grands Prix in 18 countries in 2025, a new record.

To tune into the free content you’ll need to head to Quest on Channel 12. This service is also available via Freesat (Ch 150), Sky (Ch 144) and Virgin (Ch 144).

“We’re very happy to announce that fans in the UK and Ireland can continue enjoying MotoGP on TNT Sports,” added Alex Arroyo, Head of Media Rights at MotoGP rights holder Dorna Sports.

“Since TNT first became home of MotoGP, they have provided top quality coverage of the sport for audiences in a key market. We’re excited that the next years of our agreement will also expand into free-to-air Sprints – an incredible addition to the Championship, and one we know new fans will love even more. We look forward to working together to grow the sport even further across the UK and Ireland.”
