How to remove grease from oven glass door fast without vinegar and baking soda

Oven cleaning is often a drawn-out task, particularly when you’re not equipped with the right products.

Despite white vinegar and baking soda being championed by many cleaning gurus as the ultimate duo for oven cleaning, one lady has claimed victory with another, more effective natural solution, which cleaning fanatics have since backed.

On the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips and Tricks Facebook group, Becca Dwyer posted a snap of her mum’s oven door, caked in a layer of dark grime, and disclosed the secret weapon that made it gleam once more.

She wrote: “Hi. This is the glass from my mother’s oven door I was cleaning her oven today as she can’t bend down.”

“I’ve tried Pink Stuff paste, Elbow Grease cream, dishwasher tablets, aerial pods also baking soda and vinegar but nothing shifted it.”

Despite numerous online tips advocating for baking soda and vinegar paste to clean ovens, Becca found this ineffective when faced with stubborn oven glass muck.

She opted for a different tactic, commenting: “Someone then suggested soda crystals to me and it worked so much better than anything I’ve tried. It’s now sparkling.”

Dri-Pak specialists noted that the much-loved baking soda and vinegar combo falls short, commenting: “One thing that isn’t really the best solution, despite lots of internet tips, is to use bicarbonate of soda and then add white vinegar.

“The effect will be reduced because the acidic white vinegar is neutralising the alkalinity of the baking soda and it’s that that dissolves the grease.”

Instead, they’re suggesting soda crystals for the job. The experts said: “Soda crystals are excellent for dissolving grease and working on stubborn, burnt-on food.”

A strong solution of soda crystals or a generous application of liquid soda crystals sprayed over an oven door can work wonders. After letting it sit for at least 20 minutes, give the oven a good wipe-down.

For those peskier spots, it’s suggested to repeat with dry soda crystals, using them as a scrub together with a cloth for extra abrasion.

On another green cleaning front, lemons are being hailed as a natural wonder for shining up oven door glass.

One cleaning enthusiast swears by them, ditching commercial oven cleaners for good after giving lemons a try.

Joanne and Tracy, the women behind @additivefreelifestyle claim that you just need two to three lemons and place them in water for 30 minutes in the oven at 200C to clean your oven naturally.
