Achieve ‘five-star hotel’ quality bedding with expert hacks

It’s important to make your bedroom and bed as comfy as possible to help recharge your batteries.

This includes focusing on linen, and there’s nothing better than getting into bed with perfectly clean and comfortable sheets.

According to an expert, you can achieve “five-star hotel” quality bedding in just a few steps.

Richard Edwards, owner of White House Hideaway, said: “Your bed linen is the first thing you see in the morning and the last thing you see at night, so invest in bedding you love.

“By following the right tips, you can bring the comfort and luxury of a hotel stay into your own home.”

1. Invest in good quality

When aiming for hotel-standard linen, Richard recommends investing in good-quality bedding staples.

These include high thread count sheets, down comforters as well as plush pillows to create the ultimate haven.

Although they may cost a little more upfront, they will last much longer and provide a sense of luxury.

2. Wash your bedding regularly

The expert said: “Sheets and pillowcases should be washed at least once a week, while duvet covers and comforters can be washed every few months.

“This will prevent dirt, oils and bacteria build-up, resulting in softer and more hygienic linens.”

3. Use a gentle detergent

When washing linens, make sure to use a gentle detergent suitable for delicate fabrics.

Avoid harsh chemicals and bleach, as they can damage the fibres and affect the quality of your linens. Opting for a mild detergent can combat this and help to soften them nicely.

4. Use fabric softener

The expert continued: “Be careful not to overdo it, as too much fabric softener can cause a buildup on the fibres, affecting their absorbency and softness.”

Make sure to only use as much as the manufacturer’s instructions suggest for a super soft and nice-smelling duvet cover.

5. Pay attention to detail

Richard noted: “Finally, to truly achieve hotel-standard linen, you need to be paying attention to the little details.

“This includes neatly tucking in the sheets, getting the edges aligned, fluffing up the pillows and duvets, and making sure the linens are free of stains or tears.

“These small details make a big difference in creating a luxurious and inviting atmosphere.”
