The carpet of pure white droplet-like flowers will be delighting us very soon.

They look dainty and delicate, but actually, they are very hardy, withstanding winter’s worst weather.

Snowdrops mark the start of a new gardening year and from here, we should slowly start to see other colours appearing in our garden.

Snowdrops are easy to grow and care for. Ideally, you should plant them as ‘bulbs in the green’, meaning they arrive with roots and green shoots already in place.

We should plant them immediately so they can flower this very Snowdrop season and each Wintertime thereafter.

The Snowdrop is a must-have for the garden, whether on the ground or in pots.

Snowdrops will spread in time, so if a patch of Snowdrops becomes too crowded you can carefully lift them with a spade and divide them once the flowers have died back but before the green foliage and died back.

Then find new places for them, ideally under some trees or tucked into your beds and borders.
