Princess Kate made a touching visit to Royal Marsden Hospital in London, an establishment where she had previously received treatment for cancer after being diagnosed last year.
Looking effortlessly stylish, Kate, 43, carried a handbag that held deep ties to the monarchy, with a sweet nod to the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Kate was seen dressed in a Blaze Mikano coat and Russel & Bromley shoes, but also accessorised her look with a timeless £2,995 Asprey ‘Morgan’ bag. Her bag came in a trendy shade of burgundy with an oversize gold clasp – a design that’s simple and elegant.
Asprey’s connection to British royalty dates back to the 1800s, when Queen Victoria awarded the brand its first royal warrant. So far, the brand has held a royal warrant from every British monarch, including Queen Elizabeth II.
The brand’s ties to royalty stretch to 1862, when Queen Victoria granted the company a royal warrant for dressing cases, travelling bags and writing cases.
The director of VIP Sales, Bobby Gill, told the Mail Online: “Asprey is incredibly honoured that the Princess of Wales wore the Morgan leather handbag on her outing to the Royal Marsden Hospital.”
He added: “She’s a loyal supporter of British brands and in the case of Asprey embodies the future of that special historical tie that the brand holds with the Royal Family.”
The Princess of Wales has been a long-time admirer of Asprey’s jewellery and leather collections, having showcased five pairs of earrings, two necklaces and, now, two bags.
Asprey’s vintage and contemporary collections continue to be favoured by royalty, as seen with the Maple Leaf Brooch.
It was first gifted by King George VI to the Queen Mother, ahead of their royal tour of Canada. Queen Elizabeth II then inherited it, and wore it on her many trips to Canada. It is worth an eye-watering £100,000 thanks to it featuring diamonds set in platinum in the shape of Canada’s national emblem.
She then loaned the brooch to Kate who wore it on several visits to Canada in 2011 and 2016.
Not just admired by royalty, Asprey has also made several custom red carpet pieces for the likes of Angelina Jolie and jewellery has also been favoured by actress Emilia Clarke.
