Greggs is bigger than Subway and McDonald’s in the UK, with over 2,500 bakeries selling freshly baked goods.
The fast-food giant has garnered the custom of millions of Britons with its affordable lineup of hot and cold savoury food, particularly sausage rolls and steak bakes.
But fans of the chain will find that it has pivoted away from its core lineup in the latest menu update: Greggs is adding a new chicken burger and wrap to its hot made-to-order range.
It marks another big move by the bakery, which launched in May 2024, to expand its horizons with lunchtime essentials like a fish finger sandwich and wrap.
The new menu additions are low-cost to match the everyday value of Greggs food and drink and will be available across the UK from Thursday, February 6.
The barbecue crispy chicken burger comes at just £4, and a mere £3.80 for the wrap made with southern fried chicken goujons.
Both can be purchased for a bargain of £4.95 as part of the Hot Sandwich Deal, which includes any hot sandwich, wedges, or side salad and a drink for £4.95.
Expanding its hot, made-to-order items is part of Greggs’s ongoing ambition to give its customers more choice and variety. The bakery chain said that the range will be rolled out into over 300 shops nationwide by spring.
Meanwhile, returning favourites are also included on the fresh menu.
The bakery giant said it would reinstate its Katsu Chicken Bake, a savoury delight made with chicken breast in a Japanese-inspired Katsu style curry sauce, wrapped in puff pastry.
A Cherry Bakewell Muffin is also back on the menu to satisfy customers with sweet cravings. Meanwhile, the Cinnamon drinks range, including the cinnamon swirl latte and flat white, is returning to the menu.
In addition to expanding its menu, Greggs plans to open between 140 and 150 shops in 2025, adding to its existing portfolio, which spans 2,500.
The new menu will be available in select shops from February 6.
