Save time on cooking air fryer loaf tin chicken recipe

To help you get your meal preparation on track for the week ahead, a recipe creator and recipe book author has shown how you can save precious pennies, as well as time.

Nate Anthony, also known as Bored of Lunch, revealed his hack for making his money on the food shop go further, as well as saving time on making food for the future.

In a new TikTok video, Nate demonstrated how he uses a loaf tin – usually reserved for baking bread or cakes – to make sure his chicken is cooked altogether while retaining moisture.

In the video, Nate said: “If you’re looking to save time and money on your weekly food shop, stop buying packets of cooked chicken and simply make this air fryer loaf tin chicken.”

The creator hailed this recipe as a great way to get all of your chicken cooking done at once, ready to portion up for the week ahead.

He suggested having the chicken in sandwiches, wraps, or even a burrito bowl.

If saving money is one of your main priorities, the average price for a kilogram of chicken breast in the UK is around £6 – £8 per kilogram.

This can vary slightly depending on the brand, quality and which supermarket you shop at.

According to the Office of National Statistics, the average price of pre-cooked chicken by the kilo landed at 375 pence in December 2024.

Nate’s video has been viewed over 47,600 times. Zizi commented: “Looks delicious! coming from the people of harissa.”

Jamie asked: “What’s the point of putting it in a loaf tin?” To which Chris replied: “It will help it to stay moist.”

So if you’re looking for an easy way to meal prep your chicken for the week, this is what you’ll need.

  • Air fryer Loaf Tin Chicken

Ingredients

  • 1kg chicken thighs
  • One lemon, squeezed
  • Two tbsp Greek yogurt
  • Two tbsp Harissa paste
  • Salt and pepper
  • Two tsp oregano
  • Two tsp garlic powder
  • Two tsp Cajun seasoning

To serve

  • Two to three cherry tomatoes, chopped
  • Sprinkle of fresh coriander
  • 1/6 cucumber
  • 150g basmati or jasmine rice

For the sauce

  • Three tbsp Greek Yogurt
  • Two tbsp Sriracha
  • One lime, juiced

Method

Add your chicken thighs to a bowl with the seasonings and spices above. Mix well.

Grab a loaf tin and layer it with the marinated chicken thighs. Pop in the air fryer for 35 minutes at 190.

Halfway through be sure to cover in tinfoil to stop the top from burning.

Once cooked, drain the excess juices before chopping the chicken into small pieces.

Serve with some rice, cherry tomatoes, fresh coriander and some cucumber.
