Patrick Mahomes’ leaked Super Bowl text speaks volumes about his character | NFL | Sport

Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs’ star quarterback, will step onto the field at Super Bowl LIX this Sunday to face down the Philadelphia Eagles, setting the stage for a pulsating replay of their NFL finale two years back – a clash which saw his team triumphant with a 38-35 victory. This appearance marks Mahomes’ fifth berth at the NFL’s ultimate contest, solidifying his legacy with three prior wins.

From the moment he first stepped up as a starting quarterback when he snatched the MVP award following a stellar 12-4 season lead with the Chiefs, Mahomes’ prowess has been undeniable.

What has endeared fans even further is his deep-rooted belief in his and his team’s triumphs, a conviction made strikingly evident when Brittany Mahomes, Patrick’s wife, let slip a text message from the athlete himself, evidencing his confident prediction for Super Bowl LVIII.

As the Chiefs emerged victorious against the San Francisco 49ers last year with a tight 25-22 scoreline, Brittany disclosed family messages, shining the spotlight on a text from Mahomes dated January 5 – before the NFL regular season had drawn to a close. His words were assertive: “I decided we are going to win the Super Bowl.”

At that juncture, the Baltimore Ravens had already cinched the AFC’s No. 1 seed while the Chiefs secured their place as the third seed within their conference.

Mahomes was unshaken in his conviction despite acknowledging the reality that tackling the road to a Super Bowl would be filled with challenges, never having played a playoff game away from Arrowhead Stadium before.

His assurance continued after the Chiefs’ monumental 17-10 victory over the Ravens in the AFC Championship when he texted his wife: “I’ll see y’all in Vegas, I’m not done.”

With a legendary three-peat within grasp for the Chiefs, Mahomes has kept relatively quiet about this remarkable feat, but he couldn’t hold back when it came to discussing Michael Jordan’s two sets of three consecutive NBA championship wins.

Discussing such triumphs with talkSPORT on Thursday, Mahomes expressed his awe: “I think at any level, to have that much level of success is crazy.

“So for him to be able to win a 3-peat, take time off, come back to basketball again and do it again, that’s something that will probably never be done again in any sport.”
