White vinegar, a simple and versatile liquid, has been used for centuries as a natural cleaner aside from being a tasty condiment.
This humble household staple can be used to combat a range of cleaning dilemmas, however, it sometimes needs to be paired with other things to achieve the best results.
According to cleaning experts from @connecttrades on TikTok, vinegar mixed with washing-up liquid can remove extreme limescale from shower screens.
To get to the after results shown in the clip, they recommend households use “one part vinegar with three drops of dishwashing liquid and one part water”.
White vinegar’s acidity is key to banishing tough hard water stains and limescale that have made your shower screen their home.
Additionally, washing-up liquid is formulated not only to slice through grease but also oil, meaning it effectively dispatches soap scum and heaves off other accumulated grime from the glass.
Start the process by decanting the washing-up liquid into an empty spray bottle. Next, put the white vinegar into a microwave-safe bowl, and heat it in the microwave for roughly one minute.
The process of heating up vinegar enhances the solubility of vinegar, making it more effective at breaking down stubborn hard water stains.
Add the items to an empty spray bottle. Secure the lid and gently shake the bottle to mix the contents.
Next, generously spray the cleaning mixture onto the shower glass and let it sit for at least 10 to 15 minutes. For better results, leave it on for 30 minutes to an hour.
Afterwards, use a sponge or scrubbing brush to remove any remaining grime, leaving your shower screen clean.
Follow up with a squeegee wiping horizontally to clear off all moisture. This leaves you with a sparkling streak-free shine.
This method provides a cost-effective, simple, and quick way to clean shower glass without resorting to harsh chemicals.
Plus, you won’t be left with such a strong vinegar smell in your bathroom as it’s combined with washing-up liquid.
