Android users are getting a blockbuster upgrade from Apple that will bring a swathe of award-winning shows and movies to their devices. The update, which has been announced today, offers those with phones such as the new Galaxy S25 or Google Pixel 9, the chance to download and use the Apple TV+ app.
This service has been available on devices such as iPhones, Apple TV boxes and iPads since 2019. It’s since been expanded to things such as Samsung TVs, LG screens, Fire TV Sticks and Sky boxes.
Until now, Android phones have not been compatible, but that’s just changed.
Apple TV+ is available to download now for free from the Google Play store. Apple is even offering Android fans 7 days of access without paying the usual £8.99 per month fee.
For those not aware, Apple TV+ is similar to platforms such as Netflix and Disney+, with subscribers getting access to exclusive shows such as Slow Horses, Ted Lasso, Severance, Shrinking, Coda and The Morning Show. There are also movies to watch as well including The Instigators, Killers of the Flower Moon and Napoleon.
Everything can be streamed or downloaded to watch on the move, and there are also features such as easy ways to continue watching shows and movies via the home screen. It even works seamlessly with other devices – so, you can start watching on Android and carry on from where you left off on your Apple TV or Sky box.
Along with offering entertainment, Apple TV+ also features access to MLS – via an extra Season Pass – with users able to tune into games from this US soccer league.
Apple TV+ is also the home of Friday Night Baseball — a weekly Major League Baseball double-header with no local broadcast restrictions. New for 2025, Apple TV+ subscribers can also enjoy Sunday Night Soccer, a weekly primetime standalone match showcasing MLS’s most compelling matchups.
If you have Android and fancy giving it a try, you can download it now.
