GTA 6 release date could be later than thought following major PlayStation announcement | Gaming | Entertainment

One of the big State of Play announcements may have shed light on the GTA 6 release date.

Rockstar Games parent company Take-Two previously ruled out back to back releases for some of its biggest games. With Take-Two having a stake in Grand Theft Auto 6 and upcoming Gearbox release Borderlands 4, the statement suggests there will be a significant gap between the release of the two games.

Speaking about any potential scheduling conflicts between Borderlands 4 and GTA 6, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said: “I think it’s safe to say that we wouldn’t – and no one would – stack up huge releases unnecessarily.”

With Take-Two insisting that GTA 6 is on track for an autumn launch, and with Borderlands 4 receiving a September 23 release date, we now have a pretty good idea about when GTA 6 will make its debut for PS5 and Xbox Series X.

With Autumn officially running from September until the end of November, it’s safe to assume that GTA 6 will launch in late October at the earliest.

This would give Borderlands 4 around a month to establish itself before GTA 6 arrives and destroys everything in its path.

Take-Two may even want to give Borderlands 4 more room to breathe, which would mean a late November release date for the new Grand Theft Auto.

Of course, until Rockstar Games makes an official announcement, it’s all speculation, so don’t worry too much.

Likewise, a month or two dedicated to Borderlands 4 sounds good to me. The looter shooter will be spotlighted during a special State of Play event this spring.

Borderlands 4 takes place on an all-new planet that’s been taken over by a ruthless dictator.

Needless to say, players will be able to unlock a staggering number of weapon combinations, all of which are complemented by new Action Skills.

According to developer Gearbox, it features new movement mechanics like double jumping, gliding, dodging and fixed-point grappling.

As for GTA 6, the game is set in Rockstar’s version of Florida, complete with Miami-style nightclubs, beaches and swampland.

It features male and female playable protagonists, which should give it a modern day Bonnie and Clyde feel.

At the time of writing, the announcement trailer has a whopping 240 million views on YouTube. Fans are eagerly awaiting the release of Trailer 2, which should be released soon.
