Meghan Markle took the world by surprise this week when she revealed she had renamed her upcoming lifestyle brand.

The Duchess of Sussex, 43, said in March last year that she was set to launch her own business called American Riviera Orchard, however no further updates were provided until this week, when the duchess revealed she would now launch her business under the name As Ever.

As well as confirming the business’ name, Meghan also revealed that the brand’s website had already been set up, which presented a logo and picture.

With a picture of Meghan and her daughter Princess Lilibet, three, on the homepage of the website, fans were surprised to see a logo had already been drawn up before the products were launched.

The symbol of the business is a palm tree with two hummingbirds flying either side. While many may be confused by the logo and what it is supposed to represent, it is believed there are four hidden meanings behind the design that royal fans may not be aware of.

As reported by People, the palm tree in the logo is supposed to represent Santa Barbara, where Meghan and Prince Harry have been living since quitting senior royal life in 2020, along with their children Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3.

This is likely to have been included in the business’s image as the products are tipped to be those Meghan uses in her everyday life at her sprawling Montecito mansion, with the area also acting as an inspiration for the duchess and her products.

As well as representing the local area, it is believed palm trees are also significant for Prince Harry and Meghan and their lives in Montecito.

In an interview with The Cut in 2022, Meghan revealed how two massive palm trees on the lawn of their Montecito home were one of the first things Prince Harry had noticed when viewing the property while the pair was looking for their new house.

The duchess told The Cut: “One of the first things my husband saw when we walked around the house was those two palm trees. See how they’re connected at the bottom? He goes, ‘My love, it’s us.’ And now every day when Archie goes by us, he says, ‘Hi, Momma. Hi, Papa.’ ”

The feature of the hummingbirds in the logo may also have a hidden meaning as it is believed Harry is a big fan of the birds, with the inclusion of them in the logo being seen as a potential nod to the duke.

A scene in the Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan showed the duke up close with a hummingbird on the terrace of the couple’s Californian mansion, with the prince looking delighted at the interaction.

In the footage, believed to have been taken by Meghan, the prince could be seen filming the hummingbird up close as the couple’s son Archie questioned what was happening.

The Duke of Sussex could be heard saying: “We won’t get a chance to be this close to hummingbirds ever again.”

Meghan then confirms seconds later that Harry is an avid birdwatcher and the moment is important to him.

Hummingbirds are also believed to be significant to the couple in relation to the late British monarch. A hummingbird flew into their Montecito home shortly after the death of Prince Harry’s grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, the prince revealed in his 2023 memoir Spare.

In it, he noted how in some cultures the bird is interpreted as a symbol of spirits.

Prince Harry wrote: “Soon after our return, a hummingbird got into the house. I had a devil of a time guiding it out, and the thought occurred that maybe we should start shutting the doors, despite those heavenly ocean breezes.

“Then a mate said: Could be a sign, you know? … Visitors, as it were. Aztecs thought them reincarnated warriors. Spanish explorers called them ‘resurrection birds.’”

It is not known whether Harry believed the bird could in some way be a sign from his late grandmother.
