King Charles described by Donald Trump in sweet two-word remark | Royal | News

Donald Trump has described King Charles in a sweet two-word remark after receiving a letter from His Majesty.

The US President was handed a letter by Sir Kier Starmer in Washington DC yesterday during a meeting on Ukraine and trade.

The Prime Minister said the letter was from the King and was “very special” as it was an invite for an unprecedented second state visit to the UK.

He added this had never happened before and was “historic”.

On receiving the letter, which was personally signed by King Charles himself, Mr Trump referred to the 76-year-old monarch as a “great gentleman”.

He then went on to say the King was a “beautiful man, a wonderful man” before saying that they had formed a good relationship after Trump’s first state visit to the UK in 2019.

The US president told Sir Keir that he looks forward to this state visit to the UK in the near future, with US First Lady Melania Trump expected to accompany her husband.

Just last year, Mr Trump met Prince William in France when they both visited Paris for the ceremonial reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral.

At the time, the US president said the Prince of Wales was doing a “fantastic job”.
