With the warmer weather finally on the horizon, this weekend is the right time to pop heavy sweaters and winter clothing away for the summer. Storing bulky winter clothes can be a challenge, especially when wardrobe space is limited.

But, instead of cramming coats, hoodies and blankets into overflowing drawers, a home organisation account on TikTok has shared a novel way to keep bulky items out of sight. The budget-friendly trick allows you to hang heavy winter gear in a neat, accessible way, freeing up valuable space for the lighter items in your spring/summer wardrobe. Molly, the digital creator behind @therenegadehome account, shared how she uses a simple towel rail and some hooks to revolutionise her bedroom storage game.

In a video entitled “7 ways to use a towel bar” Molly shares a variety of locations where this easy additional storage hack has worked for her.

She said: “I’ve used this trick in the laundry room and for hanging pants, but most recently I used it in my daughter’s room. Hanging it directly on the wall and then using simple shower curtain hooks to hang up all of her hoodies is so much nicer than having them just folded in a pile because now she can actually see them and it freed up tons of closet space for pants.”

By using shower curtain hooks or clip hooks, you can easily organise coats, scarves and sweaters by hanging them out of the way. Keeping them upright takes up less room, meaning no need to bulky storgae bags or boxes.

Molly also adds: “You can swap out the s hooks for clip hooks. I’ve even used this little trick for storing paint brushes, hats, blankets, coats and jackets.”

Followers of the home organiser were impressed with the storage solution.
