Urgent recall issued for frozen food favourite as customers told ‘do not eat’

Vegetable lasagnes sold in a high street supermarket have been recalled over fears that they contain pieces of plastic. Customers are being asked to return Iceland Vegetable Lasagnes in a 400g pack with best-before dates of July 23, 2026 and July 30, 2026.

A notice shared by the Food Standards Agency said, “We are taking the precautionary measure of recalling the date codes of the above product because it may contain hard pieces of plastic, making it unsafe to eat. Only the best-before date codes listed in this notice are affected.”

Customers who had bought the product were urged not to eat it and to return it to the store where they bought it.

Although plastic is typically used to package ready meals, some types contain chemicals that can contaminate food when heated.

Large pieces of plastic may also present a choking hazard, particularly for children.

The notice urged customers to “check if you have bought any of the affected product”.

It went on: “You can do this by taking a photo of this notice or writing down the details at home.

“Please return to any Iceland store where a full refund will be given. No receipt is required.”

The recall comes after a similar notice was issued for seafood sticks sold in Waitrose, which may carry an incorrect best before date code.
