A pair of second-half goals earned Atletico Ottawa a 2-1 win over Toronto-based York United FC Saturday as both clubs kicked off the 2024 Canadian Premier League season.

Manny Aparicio and Kris Twardek both found the back of the net for Atletico Saturday afternoon, in front of about 4,000 fans at TD Place.

The home team had to come from behind after York striker Austin Ricci scored in the 48th minute.

Saturday marked the start of the third season for the Canadian Premier League

Atletico Ottawa finished the 2023 campaign with a record of 10-6-2, falling just shy of the playoffs.
