Adding one thing to microwave makes pizza yummier

Reheated pizza is a common remedy for many nursing a hangover – and it’s also perfect for family leftovers, work lunches or sharing with mates.

However, getting the slices to taste as good as they do straight from the oven can be a bit of a challenge. After all, nobody wants their pizza to have the texture of cardboard!

Luckily, an Italian chef thinks they’ve found the solution and has shared their method for achieving the best results. Popular cook Roberta revealed that the secret to avoiding dry pizza when reheating in the microwave is to keep it moist.

Reheating pizza without losing its crispy texture and original flavour can be tricky, often resulting in a soft base and rubbery cheese. This is far from ideal – but chef Roberta believes she has the solution.

The famous Italian chef Roberta, known on TikTok for her cooking tips, has revealed a simple technique that ensures your reheated pizza tastes as good as when it’s fresh from the oven. She explained that the key to preventing the pizza from drying out when reheating it in the microwave is to keep it moist.

Keeping the moisture is an easy fix with this straightforward trick

The chef revealed a clever yet straightforward trick for reheating pizza – simply place a glass of water next to the slice in the microwave. The evaporating water generates just enough steam to keep the dough elastic and prevent the cheese from hardening.

“Moisture is key so that the base does not soften or burn,” the chef shared on her social media platforms. If you’re not a fan of microwaves, she also suggests using a frying pan.

Simply heat the pan over medium heat, add the pizza slice and a few drops of water around the edge, then cover the pan to create a steam effect. This allows the cheese to melt without losing its crunch.

A basic recipe for a delicious pizza

For those who want to go a step further and enjoy a completely homemade pizza, the chef shares the basic recipe on her channel which is so easy, the whole family can take part.

Her pizza includes a dough made with flour, warm water, yeast, oil, salt and a touch of sugar, before being rested for an hour. It is then topped with homemade tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese and other preferred ingredients before baking at 220°C. Keep an eye on the pizza and take out of the oven once it is cooked to enjoy a lovely staple of Italian cooking.

Chef Roberta Cipri owns the “Aroma Roma” restaurant in Loma Linda, San Jose, Costa Rica which has great reviews for its authentic Italian cuisine. Some reviewers have even commented that the food rivals that of Roberta’s native Italy.
