Musical fans can now watch one of the most beloved movie adaptations of a classic stage show of all time at no extra cost.
It’s considered one of the best all-singing, all-dancing blockbusters ever made and the perfect way to usher in the long-awaited sunshine this spring.
The smash-hit 2008 film even produced an equally acclaimed sequel in 2018, which is also available to stream for free on the same platform.
This infectious, toe-tapping extravaganza follows a young woman about to get married who discovers she could be the daughter of three different men her mum had flings with during a long, hot summer in the 1970s.
We’re, of course, talking about Mamma Mia!, which has just joined its sequel, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, on ITVX.
Based on the hit pop songs by ABBA, the talents of Amanda Seyfried and Meryl Streep lead this all-star cast, which also includes Christine Baranski, Pierce Brosnan, Dominic Cooper, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgård and Julie Walters.
Fans are convinced Mamma Mia! is easily one of the best musical films of the 21st Century, if not of all time.
A five-star rave on Google reviews gushed: “With this music, watching Mamma Mia is like watching a musical epic unfold in front of your very eyes!
“Mamma Mia was created to lift you up and will have you singing along to every single lyric! No matter if you are male, female, old or young, it is an experience that must be shown to everyone.
“It is perfect for one of those terrible days when you need something to boost your mood.”
Another enthusiastic fan wrote: “Hands down the best musical I’ve ever seen. I’ve watched a lot of musicals, but this one is my favorite.
“The cast is fantastic, with many well-known actors who all bring something special to the film. The songs are amazing—ABBA has so many great tracks, it’s hard to choose my favorites.”
And someone else exclaimed: “This is the BEST MUSICAL EVER CREATED!!!!! It makes me so happy my soul melts into a happy puddle.
“I have watched this since I was little and I will watch it until I die.”
While a rave write-up on the film social media platform Letterboxd summed up Mamma Mia’s appeal: “Talented. Brilliant. Incredible. Amazing. Show stopping. Spectacular.
“Never the same. Totally unique. Completely not ever ever been done before.”
