Amazon’s annual Spring Deal Days sale has begun and while we expected discounts on some of the firm’s own best tech, we didn’t think there would be immediate savings to be had on its ever popular Kindle e-reader line up – thankfully we were wrong.
Not only are three of the newest Kindles currently on sale (and you don’t need to be an Amazon Prime subscriber to access these prices), but you can also trade in your current Kindle for a further 20 percent off the sale price.
Amazon has slashed the prices of three of its newest Kindles, including the Kindle Colorsoft, the firm’s first e-reader with a colour screen. The Colorsoft is down to £219.99, down £50 from £269.99.
I reviewed the Colorosoft on its release back in November and loved its vibrant colour screen that brought book covers and graphic novels to life, as well as its superb battery life, quick performance, automatic front light and its full waterproofing.
My main complaint was the price, so to see £50 off makes the first colour Kindle much more palatable at £219.99. Trade in your current Kindle for another 20 percent off and you’ll see the price dip to about £175 – a superb price.

If that’s a little too much for you then Amazon has cut the price of its cheapest Kindle from £94.99 to £79.99. I’ve also tested this model and it really doesn’t cut too many corners. I’d happily use it as my daily reading device with its adjustable front light, lightweight construction, USB-C charging with weeks-long battery life and quick performance.

Amazon is also offering 20 percent more off when you trade in your current Kindle, which sees the price dip right down to £63.99.
If you want the ultimate Kindle upgrade then you might have your eye on the Kindle Scribe, the larger screen option that also comes with a pen accessory. This lets you make notes in any e-book, great if you’re studying or want to highlight or remember certain passages of the latest pageturner.
Usually £329.99, you can now get the 16GB Scribe with Basic Pen for £249.99, a massive £80 saving on the RRP. Note that the 20 percent trade in is not currently on offer for the Scribe.

My colleague and technology editor Dave Snelling reviewed the Scribe, calling it “a sublime way to lose yourself in a best-selling novel”. Since its release late last year, Amazon has pushed a big software update to the Scribe that adds the AI features that were promised at launch. This includes AI-powered notebook summarisation, a tool that tidies up your handwriting, and a new way to write your notes in the margins of books.
Amazon’s Spring Deal Days started on March 25 with these savings. We’re not sure how long these Kindle offers will last, so it could be best to take advantage now if you want to save big on a new e-reader.
