Brilliant’ new comedy-drama ‘may be the best show fans have ever seen’ | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

A new comedy-drama that premiered this week is already winning over fans with its brilliant humour and behind-the-scenes look at a fictional movie studio.

With an impressive 98 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, The Studio, led by comedy geniuses Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg of Superbad and This Is the End fame, is poised to be one of the standout shows of the year.

Rogen not only co-writes and directs but also stars as Matt Remick, the new head of Continental Studios navigating through one of Hollywood’s most tumultuous periods.

The show boasts a stellar cast including Kathryn Hahn, Ike Barinholtz and Catherine O’Hara as Matt’s industry colleagues, alongside A-list cameos from Martin Scorsese, Anthony Mackie, Ron Howard and Zac Efron, making it a must-watch for film enthusiasts.

The Studio has already garnered rave reviews from viewers who tuned in for the two-episode premiere on Wednesday, 26th March.

“#TheStudio had one of the best starts to a TV series in history. The Emmys are about to absolutely love this show,” one fan predicted on X (formerly Twitter).

Another viewer shared: “Jesus the second episode of #TheStudio almost gave me an anxiety attack.

“The pure chaos of trying to get the perfect shot at just the right time. Like an inverse of the big scene from Babylon, but infinitely more cringe (in a good way).”

Further accolades were heaped on by critic David Opie, who raved: “Just watched #TheStudio and it’s somehow even better than the hype suggests.

“Can’t remember the last time I watched such a perfectly formed premiere with such a strong sense of identity. It is f***ing hilarious and incredibly smart. You’re not ready for Kathryn Hahn in this.”

Echoing this sentiment, another impressed viewer chimed in with: “After watching the first two episodes of #TheStudio I’m ready to say Apple TV is up there with HBO at this point.

“They have produced so much high quality projects in the first 5-6 years.”

Meanwhile, another enthusiastic viewer weighed in: “#TheStudio may very well be the greatest show I’ve ever seen – what a perfect satirical commentary on the current state of Hollywood and filmmaking.

“It’s intoxicating and has such big, bustling kinetic energy and is frequently laugh out loud funny. Absolutely brilliant stuff!”

Two hilarious episodes have already been released, but fans can breathe a sigh of relief – the series will run for ten more weeks with weekly installments every Wednesday.

So, there’s plenty of time to dive into this wickedly funny Hollywood satire.

The Studio continues Wednesdays on Apple TV+.
