If you love your Kindle, it’s worth checking the settings menu for new features from Amazon. The online retailer has just confirmed the release of a useful upgrade that makes flicking through endless pages of your next book a whole lot easier. Once installed, the changes allow you to turn to the next page by simply double tapping on the sides or back of your device. That means there’s no longer the need to reach and touch the screen.
“You can now double tap on the sides or back of your device to turn pages in books or scroll down in Home and Library. This feature can be turned on or off in Settings > Device Options,” Amazon explained in its release notes.
Along with making it easier to race through a best seller, the upgrade – called Version 5.18.1 – also adds a feature called “Recaps for Books in Series”.
This does exactly what it says on the tin.
“You can now access short recaps for thousands of bestselling English language Kindle books in series you have purchased or borrowed,” said Amazon.
“Refresh your memory on what happened in a previously read book prior to starting a new book in series.”

Amazon says that all updates should automatically download and install on your Kindle when connected wirelessly but can you can check what version your Kindle is running via the settings.
If your current Kindle is too old to be featured on the list above, now could be a good time to upgrade.
Amazon’s big Spring Sale event is currently taking place and many of its latest Kindles are slashed in price.
For example, you can get the latest Colorsoft with a colour screen for £219.99 (WAS £269.99) or the new Kindle for £79.99 (WAS £94.99).
The latest Paperwhite is also reduced from £169.99 to just £139.99 and you can get the ultimate Scribe with stylus for £249.99 (WAS £329.99).
All of these deals are available until March 31.
