People are just discovering a “secret” feature on their air fryers. Every appliance is different, but many popular models of air fryers have different settings to help you cook all different kinds of foods.

Some allow you to dehydrate or grill foods, while others feature a handy baking feature. But while all of these individual quirks are clear to see from the control panel, there’s another hidden section on some Ninja air fryers. Taking to TikTok, @bowesy5 shared a video of her discovery.

She pointed out a compartment at the side of her Ninja Foodi MAX Dual Zone Air Fryer which houses a digital cooking probe, asking: “Ninja air fryer secret meat probe! Did you know?!”

The video’s creator wasn’t the only one unfamiliar with the feature.

In the comments section, one wrote: “WHAT?!!!! No I didn’t known!! Off to check mine now!!” Another said: “omg what no way.”

A third commented: “Omg I finally found it! I just thought mine was missing, I RAN to the air fryer.”

Meanwhile, Ninja joked: “You lot really don’t read our manuals do you.” And another said: “How is it a secret? You pay extra for this.”

The digital cooking probe is designed to help you cook meat and fish to perfection without any guesswork.

For example, if you were cooking a steak, you just have to insert the probe and choose your desired finish, from rare to well done, and the probe will monitor your food’s temperature and know exactly when to end the cooking time.

You can select a cooking function and food type from pre-set options and your air fryer will let you know when your food is ready to remove.

To store it afterwards, neatly wrap and store your temperature probe in the dedicated slot at the side of the appliance.
