South Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed an area of 150×120 metres was damaged by the fire.
It told The Express: “Crews and appliances from Pontyclun, Pontypridd, Pencoed, Cowbridge, Whitchurch, Cardiff Central, Barry, Kenfig Hill, Caerphilly, Tonypandy, Ely, Bridgend and Aberdare attended the scene.
“Approximately 150×120 metres was damaged by the fire. Crews tackled the fire using 6 breathing apparatus, 2 ground monitors, 2 main jets, 1 hose reel jet, 1 aerial ladder platform supplemented by bowsers, personal respirators, and an environmental unit for decontamination.
“Stop message was received around 08:10.
“Crews will be reinspecting the incident this morning.”
